Due to lack of snow in Stockholm the Swedish part of the world wide competition Volcom Peanut Butter & Rail Jam is canceled. The competition was scheduled to sat 8 of march.
This is yet another competition/event that is canceled in Sweden due to the bad winter. At the same time some of the northern resorts in Scandinavia such as Hemsedal and Vemdalen has huge amount of snow.
This is what the competition looked like hitting Mont Avila. Lots of snow in Canada…
One of our all time favourite snowboarders Jeremy Jones (the big mountain snowboarder) won this years edition of Swatch O´Neill Big Mountain Pro.
Last years winner, the strong Xavier de le Rue, came in second.
The competition takes place in French freerider paradise La Grave. Since it is the riders themselves who chooses the winner you must say that Jeremy jones is a wothy winner!
In Sweden we have something called sportlov. All the schools closes and everyone – more or less – drives up to the swedish “fjällen” (similiar to the alps… almost…). Sälen is the biggest area with 5 separated mountains and 3 different resorts. This might seem as a bad time for going snowboarding (unless you actually are at school). But sometimes when and where you go snowboarding simply is out of your control.
The riding in Sälen is never as extreme as you might wish or dream of. For better riding you should go to Trysil, less than 1 hour away. But the snow in Sälen is still really good. And with the global warming this is as far south in Sweden you really can rely on good snow.
The british designer Luella Bartley has teamed up with O’Neill and created a summer line for girls called “Luella for O’Neill”. To celebrate this the guys over at O’Neill are giving away one Pukas surfboard with a Luella touch to it and one Luella Bartley handbag.
All you have to do is to empty your handbag, photograph the contents of it and submit the photo. So head over to O’Neill to check out the collection and enter the contest.
The nice guy over at Permafrost send us the Flux bindings catalogue for the coming season 08/09. Even though we`re already believe in the greatness of Flux (Myself I ride the Super Titan from this season) the coming season looks great!
The bindings are if posible even more hi tech. But now in good colours. Frankly I`m a bit dissapointed with the looks of my Super Titan in some sort of greenish patch work. It looks kind of cheap.
So how does it look? It`s full of colours. And it`s vivid. It looks great!
Seasons is the name of a new mountainbike film from The Collective. The film follows 7 riders through the course of 4 seasons of one year. The riders are: Darren Berrecloth, Matt Hunter, Cam McCaul, Steve Peat, Andrew Shandro, Steve Smith, and Thomas Vanderham.
Collective also made the film Roam ( previous post about Roam) which I thought was great so I have my hopes up for this one. Seasons will be out in april, until then you can check out the teaser.
Finally it`s here! We´ve been updating our browsers since early january eagerly waiting for a sign from the Loreak Mendian. And now it`s here – the first pictures of the spring/summer range. It looks good. Still the a/w 07 was excellent with stylish jackets and knits fit grown ups.
Loreak Mendian is a spanish – or castellian – brand with close connections to the surf scene in Donostia/San Sebastian as well as the streetwear scene in Madrid. Last year they made a collabo with vans and they are a regular sponsor with the local surf film festival held in San Sebastian every year.
